My sister, Traci (39), has been recently diagnosed with a terminal illness that is progressing quickly. At this time, our family would like to respect her privacy and allow Traci to share the details of her illness when she is ready.
Her doctors have recommended hospice care and estimate she will only be with us for a few more months. The next few months will be grueling and painful, especially for Traci.
Our family is spread out across the United States, and as of yesterday (9/5) have already spent nearly $4,000 in airfare so family members are able to visit with her and say their goodbyes.
We are humbly asking for help from our friends and family to ease the burden of the medical and travel expenses that continue to multiply. Traci’s health declined very quickly, and she has been unable to work since her hospitalization. We still have several family members on the East Coast that would love to visit, but last-minute airfare is $700-$1000 round trip.
Lastly, we may need help to cover funeral costs when the time comes.
Any donation, no matter how small, will help us surround Traci with family and let our time with her be focused on comfort and love rather than the financial obligations that come along with a serious illness.
Traci is resting a lot right now as we continue to determine her needs and goals. It’s difficult for her to keep up with the many incoming calls and messages of support that she has received from so many of her friends and family.
