Helping the Bouchers

Donation protected
Hi everyone! Thanks so much for taking the time to read this. My wonderful parents, Lynn and Chuck (Charles) Boucher, have been put through the wringer in the past year.

In December of 2017, my grandmother Boucher passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. This took quite the toll on my dad, who had a heart attack 2 months later in February of 2018 and was in the hospital for several weeks recovering.

After countless trips to the hospital after that, in May of 2019, he was  diagnosed with congestive heart failure. On top of that news, he also found out he had a failing prostate and was given a catheter to use for the rest of his life.

He made the decision to retire a week after his discharge from the hospital, a difficult one to make knowing my sister is graduating high school this year and is off to college soon. Although his doctors have told him to live stress free as much as possible, worrying about finances and how to support his family has him anything but stress free.

He has been battling 3-6 infections at a time, meaning that he has been in the hospital almost daily for the past two months and in constant pain. He is currently still in the hospital being monitored. He can no longer do basic household chores, lift anything, bend down, get out of a car/go up and down stairs by himself.

This leaves my mom to support my family on an ed tech’s salary and find good insurance for herself and my sister. Not only does she have to be a caretaker for my dad 24/7, but she brings my sister to dance class and back almost every day while being a caretaker for her own parents who live an hour away and can no longer do basic tasks on their own. (Aka, she spends a LOT of gas money daily making all of these trips).

I love my family and would do anything for them. I have tried to do as much as possible, such as visiting them as much as I can despite living 2 hours away and helping financially—teachers who are reading this, you know this means I don’t have a lot to give. #teacherlife

My parents have been married 29 years, and during this time, they have been known for hosting fundraisers, donating food, clothes, visits, and other items to provide some source of comfort for people in need.

Now it is their time of need, and I know they would never ask for help—in fact, they have done quite the opposite and continue to give the help to others instead of receiving it. Anything you can do to help, be it prayers, food, encouraging words, visiting my dad when my mom is working, or a monetary donation, would be so greatly appreciated. If they find out I have started this fundraiser, I may get a stern talking to, but I’m willing to take the risk

Any amount provided will go towards helping my dad cover the expenses of his ever-rising hospital bills, making sure they have enough to pay groceries, bills, etc., and figuring out how to send my sister to college.

Love to you all,

Leah Boucher
