Helping Mike Hines after stroke and brain tumor
Donation protected
On New Year's Eve 2018, Mike suffered a stroke. Mike's vision and balance were significantly affected by the stroke. During his hospitalization, a brain tumor was also found.
In the months since the stroke, Mike has had the tumor removed (luckily it was benign) but has not regained his vision or balance. Mike has had to give up his driver's license, and along with that, his job as a truck driver.
In addition to numerous doctor appointments which are usually in Peoria (Mike lives in Alpha), multiple prescription medicines, Mike also had to retrofit his bathroom to accommodate his disabilities.
Mike had been working for TanTara Trucking for the past 6 years. Mike's income has been reduced to social security disability insurance which is NOT based on the severity of his disability. Mike is reaching out to a number of state and federal programs, but as you can imagine, there can be a significant time lapse before he receives benefits.
Mike is dealing with a life-altering disability. I created this GoFundMe so that those of us that know Mike, or whose life has been touched by Mike, can help ease his financial burden.
