because of all of your kindness and generosity we have reached over half of our goal. The response was very touching and Malanie is beyond grateful. We still got a little ways to go however today Malanie will be able to pay some bills. Due to her bank being overdrawn, Malanie has asked me to deposit the funds in my account and withdraw so she can pay her mortgage and more directly. Thank you all so much.
A dear friend and Local 706 sister has come to a very tough situation. Malanie Romero that has had a long extensive career in our union as a makeup artist has had surgery around the holidays and has been recovering for the last two months. With work being as sparse as it is right now, for all of us, Malanie has not had an opportunity to replenish her bank account, meanwhile bills have to be paid. In the recent week, a false deposit and withdrawal drained all her money leaving her with an unpaid mortgage and bills. Due to that withdrawal bank fees have been accumulating as well.
Malanie was reluctant to tell anyone, even me but the truth came out when she broke into tears at my home today.
Malanie is selling her belongings. Furniture and clothes and shoes to recover some funds to help her get through this.
