Impact Immigration Psychology Access Team

Immigrants in the United States are facing a growing crisis as they worry about staying in the United States. There are many routes to obtaining lawful status in the U.S., and The Helping Immigrants Stay Project addresses this crisis by eliminating unnecessary deportations through a comprehensive psychological evaluation conducted by a trained mental health professional.  

Without these expert evaluations, otherwise lawful immigrants are put in danger of deportation, and the crushing outcomes that follow. Many face losing connection with their families and communities, while our society loses their rich contributions both economic and cultural. One such case is that of Mr. S.

Mr. S. is a Guatemalan born US citizen who came to the US as a child for reconstructive surgery for disfiguring birth defects. His only close relationship is with his wife, Ms. R, who provides him with emotional and physical support such that he can now leave the house without panic and is able to work. If she is deported, he will decline both physically and psychologically.

This is just one of many cases that can benefit from these psychological evaluations. Your contribution helps absorb the cost of the evaluation for these immigrants, and supports a comprehensive training program to qualify more mental health professionals to conduct the evaluations.
