Support for Al McIlveen

For more than 15 years, Calgary short track speed skating coach Alan McIlveen has been an integral part of the speed skating community locally and across Canada. He has helped hundreds of young athletes reach their goals and has been a constant source of support for them during and after their professional careers.

Late last week, Al suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He’s currently being supervised by a team of specialists at the hospital. While the surgery went well and the doctors are happy with how he’s progressing, Al has a long road to recovery ahead of him. At this time, it’s much too early to tell exactly what kind of support he’ll need, but we know the funds raised through this page will be greatly appreciated and help ensure a smooth transition for him.
