Helping a Cuddly Dog

$1,085 of $3,000 goal

Sadly, the night of December 10th, our sweet Hazel broke her hip; this happened spontaneously, as she was greeting someone at the front door. 35265244_1544541159703072_r.jpeg

She is a 5 year old mutt, who was adopted from the Last Hope k9 rescue a few years ago. Hazel suffers from separation anxiety and is very close with her owner, Cheryl. Cheryl will do anything she can to help Hazel, ensure she is fixed, and do what is best for her - including a possible amputation.

Unfortunately, this is all coming at a challenging time of year, as well as a personally challenging time for Cheryl. We are hoping to raise money to help nurse Hazel back to health, and ensure she is with her family, and her brother Bo, at home for Christmas.

Hazel update...sorry it has taken me so long to update. I got the pathology report and it was not good, (osteosarcoma) so it took me a bit to come to terms with it. I so appreciate everyone who is checking in on her. She is doing so well as a tri pod. She is back to walks at the park and playing with Bo. We met with an oncologist who says she is an excellent candidate for chemo. He said she will not have side effects from it. Dogs tolerate it really well. Her prognosis without chemo was to live about 2-3 months. With the chemo it brings it up to a year maybe even 2. So we are going to start this week. Please continue to pray for my sweet girl. I hate that She has to deal with this. She feels the love from everyone and is still enjoying life ❤

Hooray! Cheryl has gone to visit Hazel, and they were both excited to see each other! Hazel seems to not realize she is missing a leg, and despite her traumatic week was in good spirits to see her favorite human. Vets are monitoring Hazel for the next few days, so she won't return home yet, and we are still holding our breath to find out how aggressive/what type of cancer she has. Keep up the prayers, healing thoughts, and rays of positivity. Your help is immeasurable!

Hi all,
Another pupdate. Hazel had her leg amputated! We thought all went well, but then a few hours later she was rushed into emergency surgery due to internal bleeding. She is currently in critical condition, but stable. Keep praying, cancer sucks

Hi all,
We’ve received some news about Hazel and I wanted to update everyone. Doctors have confirmed that Hazel has cancer, so they’ve decided it would be best to amputate her leg. However, we aren’t in the clear yet. They have run scans and tests on Hazel for the aggression of the cancer, but unfortunately those won’t be ready for a week. So now it’s time to play the waiting game. Hazel will come home soon, sans a limb, but hopefully we can get her into physical therapy soon! I know she’ll be the cutest three limbed mutt I’ve ever seen. Your positive thoughts are working, but we still need more! Thank you so very much, from the bottom of our hearts, our family wouldn’t have had this choice without you.

Xo,
Brooke
