1. Who Are We? We are Dhaka International Women's Association (DIWA) and have also been known as Dhaka Expat Club. Under either name we are a group of expatriate women living in Dhaka, Bangladesh seeking to help those less fortunate.
2. We all live in Dhaka, Bangladesh and hail from countries around the world. I personally come from the U.S., but our other members come from Australia, Russia, India, and many other countries. Some of us live her temporarily and others have made Dhaka, Bangladesh our home. I have been assisting DIWA as its Events Co-Ordinator in 2014-15 and was re-elected for 2015-16. Our VP, Chenoa enlisted my help just after the attacks to set up this Go Fund Me to get the fundraising started.
3. As we all know, Holey Artisan Bakery and O Kitchen Restaurant was attacked on July 1st. Some of its employees were left without jobs. Some lost their lives that night. Though we are outsiders our hearts broke seeing the devastation of that night. So, we wanted to help them in anyway we could. This collection of funds probably is only a fraction of what they need, but we hope it will help.
4. Once I withdraw the funds in my name, DIWA will put them into a trust fund of sorts for Holey that will manage the distribution of the funds to those who need it. Our first priority is to set up education funds for the children of those who died after them will be those who need help paying medical bills or counseling for those suffering PTSD and finally we will try to help those left without jobs and in financially need.
5. We intend to distribute the funds hopefully to one of the owners and assist them in the set up of the trust fund to distribute the money.
We need everyone to pitch in! Contact your friends, your College Alums, your Family and send them the link I've provided below. If you've wanted to do something for them, this is how.
