Establish a Food Shop To Help

BVNC Inc has been apart of the community since June 1988. This is thanks to funding from the NSW Government Family and Community Services. Our primary aim is to work with the local community to assess the locals needs of the area and find avenues to meet those needs. In recent times we have had an increase in everyday mums and dads, single people, seniors etc coming to the Centre asking where they can get help with food, paying bills, petrol help etc. For a number of years we have been able to deliver the State Govt's EAPA ( Energy Accounts Payment Assistance) program to help with electricity and gas bill payments. We have become a 2nd Bite recipient where we are collecting unsellable but still edible fruit and vegetables from a local supermarket and recently became a recipient of donations of some cereals, spices, herbs, pasta sauces etc which we currently give away to those in need. But we would like to be able to  provide a variety of groceries, pantry supplies (including longlife milk), and toiletries at  our Centre with items sold in a price range from 50c to $3.00 as our sister centre, Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centre, does. Our future aim is to give people a hand up not a hand out and to do this we are seeking your assistance to donate funds towards setting up this food store. We initially need to purchase good quality shelving units such as bookcases, pantry cupboards, to store the food in. We also need the seeding funds to purchase necessary items to stock the food store for a number of months so that we can build up shop funds to then go out and buy the stock to maintain the food store.
