Colin's Medical Repatriation CHINA

Donación protegida

(From Dave rogers, Colins brother)

I have updated this post directly to reflect the fact that I have borrowed and paid out the £60,000 required to bring him home, to bring a stop to the escalating hospital bills in China- he is now  back safely in UK! Now at Northwick Park rehab unit in N.W  London.
But the fund situation is still critical - more so, now I have bitten the bullet with a loan for the total cost of £60K!

My name is David Rogers, and I am desperately seeking funds for my brother COLIN ROGERS, aged 55 , who was hospitalised in ICU in First Affiliated Hospital, Urumqi, N.W CHINA,

Last year our elder brother tragically died unexpectedly young from a stroke, and now this year - almost to the day - I was devastated to receive a telephone call from China where Colin had been working as a teacher for the past eighteen months. Colin had a stroke on the 8th January and was under the care of the hospital, where I flew out in January to help in whatever way I could.

He had a clot on the stem cell of the brain which thankfully was treated with drugs to disperse, but has left him with (hopefully recoverable) damage to the nervous system.  He currently is unable to move his arms, legs or talk. But he is conscious and emotionally aware (cried when he saw me!) and we are looking at long-term hospitalisation and hoping for the miracle recovery!
And it will most likely be a long slow road to any recovery But we have HOPE - people DO make remarkable recoveries out of these conditions with the right support.

So on to the financial position/nightmare...
Colin's insurance with his employer (he was working as teacher in a college there for past 2 years) has run out (was capped at £30,000), and it costs between £3000 and £5000 per week for his care in hospital, which has to be paid UPFRONT or risk missing treatment.

We are desperate to raise the money required to pay for the costs incurred to get him AMBULANCED BACK TO THE UK ASAP (£60,000) , as all family savings had been drained on the weekly hospital bills and it would have been impossible to keep funding in this way, as he is likely to be hospitalised long-term.
This is aside from the humane factor of wanting him home anyway for best support and care.
The cost for air-ambulance repatriation was £60,000 (best and cheapest option -  offered by the fantastic Hearts First Air Ambulance Service- thankyou guys!) which had to be paid upfront),
There was, disappointingly no assistance offered from the UK Consulate in these cases, I had found out.

We urgently need as much money as possible to be raised for this in the shortest possible time to pay back the debt I now owe (as said, was costing £1000's every week he remains there, so this, however drastic, was the cheapest, most obvious oiption for me!).

It's difficult for me to have to appeal for funds to help Colin, but the family see no other way of moving forward.
Any contribution will be extremely gratefully received and accounted for in full ( I am updating his facebook page regularly with progress).
So please, I urge you to pass this on to all your friends and acquaintances and donate as much as you generously feel able to for this desperate cause for my brother.
With love and hope,

Dave Rogers (Colin's brother)
