This is my brother Jerr. He just turned 65 and was told he has advanced kidney cancer. The nearest cancer center in Canada has said they can't help him, but MDAnderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas is willing to try. MDAnderson has more experience, and access to better treatments and drugs for Jerr's type of cancer, and has had some great breakthroughs in kidney cancer research and treatment. Jerr may be eligible for a clinical trial which may help him, and help others at the same time. Check out MDAnderson renal cell carcinoma and see the work they've been doing.
Jerr has been facing adversity his whole life and worked hard to get where he is. For the past 45 years Jerr has been operating Angelstad's Quick Cobbler, a unique and valued local business doing shoe repair and specialty leather crafting, and rarely missed a day of work. He misses his work now, and his customers, many of whom come from great distances for his special talents. Might you need something fixed and don't know where to take it, you go talk to Jerr! He can usually help everyone, and is appreciated in Humboldt, where he lives, and the whole surrounding area. As a member of the Shoe Service Institute of America, Jerr has taken classes to facilitate helping people with special foot/shoe issues, and has competed in shoe repair competitions and placed in the top 5 internationally many times. Jerr really loves his work.
Jerr has been the picture of health his whole life until now. He rarely needed to see a doctor, walked or biked everywhere, went rock climbing, gardened, didn't smoke, drink or take drugs, and is still active in Toastmasters, the Chamber of Commerce and Knights of Columbus. He believes that with the right medicine he can be cured, he has never doubted that, and he wants to go to Texas and meet with the doctors of MDAnderson to get that cure. We know there are no guarentees in life, and Jerr knows this is the fight of his life, and it won't be easy, but he wants to face it and we want to face it with him. We need your help to get him to the right place for the right treatment. He has an appointment in Houston on Jan 9, 2018.  Any donations Jerr is unable to use for treatment will be gladly donated to kidney cancer research. Please help us get to that appointment, and give our brother Jerr the best possible chance. Thank you for your donation, and for sharing this with others.
