Help with Student Hunger

Meadowbrook Academy is a 6-12 alternative school (100 students) that helps students who have trouble in the traditional environment.  We have been very successful.  Over the past five years, the graduation rate of our school has risen from 4% to 50%.  Most of our students (80%) have requested to attend our school because the structure encourages student success through an individualized curriculum.  A majority of the students are on free and/or reduced lunches, which helps these students during the week, but not on the weekends.  We have started a food pantry to send food home with students over the weekends to ensure they have food away from school.  These funds will assist us in keeping the food pantry well stocked.  

The students who are not on free and reduced lunch are still very poor and cannot afford to purchase their lunches each day.  However, we will not refuse to feed the students and the lunches have to be charged.  At the end of the year, these charges must be paid by the school.  As a small school with very limited resources, we simply do not have the funds to do this from year to year.  These funds will also allow us to assist the students with their lunch charges.

Our students come to our school believing that everyone has given up on them, and we have to convince them that they can be successful.  These funds will allow the students to concentrate on their school work and not where their next meal is coming from.  On behalf of our entire school, THANK YOU for your support.
