Help With Nala’s Emergency Vet Care

Donation protected
As most of you know, Nala, our 8 month old Australian Shepherd puppy, chewed up a dog bed last week and some of the fibrous material got stuck in her small and large intestines. Unbeknownst to us, she had also swallowed a 3 inch solid piece of lamb horn (a common chew toy for young dogs) that had lodged in her small intestines first which then caused everything else to back up. She had emergency surgery on Saturday to clear all that out. She came through surgery and was recovering beautifully but refusing to eat so the vet would not release her. She finally started to eat Monday and all was looking good to be released Tuesday but all of a sudden overnight she spiked a fever and her incision started to seep fluids —which concerned the vet and they required her to stay boarded for observation. At this point, my finances are tapped out. I have paid for all of her care, surgery, medical boarding, medications, X-rays, ultrasounds, etc. and literally have no money left to give them. I am reaching out to my friends for help. The vet has been working with me the best they can but as we all know...no one works for free ☹️

It has been a very hard decision for me to make...a heartbreaking one...but we have decided to return Nala to the rescue we adopted her from so she can have a better, more active life. All this trouble started because she was bored in her crate all day. In order for us to do that, she needs to be 100% medically stable and as of right now, she is not. I’m reaching out to all of you for any help you can give.  Even the smallest amount, I would be incredibly grateful. Every little bit helps!!

All our love,
Jill and Nathan Whatley
