Hi Everyone!! My name is Wendy Liu. I'm 19 years old and a competitive wrestler from Toronto, Ontario. The sport of Wrestling has truly changed my life. Since starting 4 years ago, it has given me so many incredible opportunities to develop myself, both physically and mentally. I am stronger, more focused individual, who understands the importance of hard work, discipline, and team work. In 2015 and 2016 respectively, I earned Silver medals at the Canadian Juvenile and Junior Wrestling Championships. My dream, is to one day represent Canada at the Olympic Games.
Over the next year, my goal is to earn a spot on the Junior National team and compete at the Pan American and Junior World Championships. This Summer, I accepted an invitation to travel to China in the Fall, to train with Chinese national team athletes and coaches. This 3 month camp, will allow me to explore a different methodology and training environment, with the aim of becoming a more well-rounded and competitive wrestler at the international level.
In order to take advantage of this incredible opportunity I will need to incur significant costs which I am not fully able to absorb as a student. Airplane tickets, insurance, accommodations, food, and travel. My best estimate of the total cost is CDN $2,500-$3,000. I've been working at my part-time job this summer and have some savings, but I will still need some help to cover my expenses for this trip. This is why I am reaching out to the community at this time for donations. Any contribution at all will be welcome, there is no minimum amount. Every penny will count, and I will be forever grateful.
