Hello, My name is Warren and I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis). I was diagnosed 31 years ago during college and though it has changed my life, it has not stopped me from pursuing a fulfilling career in the beverage industry, falling in love, and raising our well-adjusted children whom have started forging their own paths in life.
Through dogged determination and the benefits of having specialized tools like my wheelchair and my adapted car, I have always been able to keep my independence and financially support my family for over 25 years. Since life happened while we were making plans, my ability to work was drastically altered when I got hit by a drunk driver coming home from work on May 4th.
The accident has placed me in a physical rehabilitation hospital until my injuries heal which will be about a six weeks without working. Aside from my injuries, my adapted car was written off by my insurance company and now the search begins for a replacement. I am trying to order a Sienna Minivan that will be professionally converted with hand control driving, a safe transfer driver’s seat and a fold out ramp for my wheelchair. Even with the value of my totaled car, the van is still prohibitively expensive.
Though I have been very fortunate to be independent all these years, I now am graciously asking for financial help from my community of friends, acquaintances and fellow union members. Please consider donating so that I can return to being an independent and contributing working member of society. I thank the many people who are helping me and my family through this frustrating, confusing time and anyone else who is kind enough to contribute.
