Help Us Rebuild After Our Home Burned Down

Hello everyone, I never thought a day would come where I would be on this side of a GoFundMe campaign.. but I have no choice. 

Just a day ago we were dealing with the usual crazy of our life. My husband was up North taking care of family matters - I was trying to juggle life and succeed in my studies in veterinary school.

But now, our house with our entire life inside of it, was burned. There is nothing left.

I was at a neighbor’s with my foster dog, when we were given the sudden order to evacuate. Our town, Moshav Mevo Modiin, had been caught in a an uncontrollable and devastating fire. I tried to run back to rescue my pets; the loves of my life who are completely dependent on me. My precious parrot, my loyal cat, my fish.. The forces wouldn't let me go. We had to wait at the roadside, for someone willing to drive us and our foster dog away from the fires.

Less than ten minutes from the order to evacuate, our home went up in flames. 

We had no warning, and I couldn't take anything. All I own in this world now is my phone, and the clothes I was wearing. We have no home. My animal babies are dead, having died in the most horrific way possible… It’s too hard to even think about it. I don’t know how to process all this.

I'm devastated, I'm in shock, the bouts of tears aren't stopping; the town looks like the aftermath of Armageddon. 45 out of 50 homes burned down to nothing. 

So many of our friends are angels sent from heaven. They’ve given us a temporary place to stay and made us feel so welcome; they’re collecting clothes, shower supplies, undergarments. So many others have asked how they can help and donate - and while I don't know what's next - I do know that we will need financial help to rebuild our lives. 

I can't begin to compile a plan of action when we are down to zero. We have nothing. No house, no clothes, no necessary documents, no laptop, no appliances, no furniture, no wedding album, no ketuba. We lost all the memorabilia of my husband’s father, who had passed when he was fourteen years old. We have none of his family photos. Just nothing. 

Due to the age of our home, we had been unable to get it properly insured. We had no safety net.

שלום חברים. מעולם לא שיערתי שיגיע יום ובו אהיה בצד הזה של קמפיין GoFundMe אבל לא נותרה לי ברירה...

רק אתמול התמודדנו עם השיגעון היום-יומי של חיינו, בעלי היה בצפון דואג לעניינים משפחתיים ואני ניסיתי לתמרן בין החיים להצלחה בלימודי הווטרינריה.

אבל כעת, הבית שלנו על כל תכולתו וחיות המחמד שלנו נשרפו כליל. לא נשאר דבר.

הייתי בבית של שכנתי עם כלבת האומנה שלי כאשר קיבלנו התרעה מידית להתפנות מהיישוב. המושב שלנו, מבוא מודיעים, נקלע לאש הרסנית ובלתי ניתנת לשליטה. ניסיתי לרוץ הביתה ולהציל את חיות המחמד, אהבות חיי שלחלוטין היו תלויות בי. התוכי האהוב שלי, החתולה הנאמנה שלי, הדגים שלי.... לוחמי האש לא נתנו לי להתקרב לאזור. נאלצנו להמתין בחוסר אונים בצד הדרך למישהו שיהיה מוכן להסיע אותנו ואת כלבת האומנה שלי הרחק מהלהבות.

לא עברו אפילו 10 דקות מרגע הוראת הפינוי וביתנו כבר עלה בלהבות.

לא קיבלנו אזהרה ולא יכולנו לקחת איתנו דבר. כל  שנותר לי הם הבגדים שלבשתי לגופי והפלאפון שלי. אין לנו בית. המתוקים שלי מתו בדרך הנוראית ביותר שניתן לדמיין.
קשה לי אפילו לחשוב על זה, שלא לומר לעכל את הכל.

אני הרוסה. אני בהלם. הדמעות לא מפסיקות לזלוג. המושב נחרב –45 מתוך 50 בתים נשרפו כליל.

חברים רבים שלנו הם מלאכים שנשלחו מגן עדן. הם נתנו לנו מקום זמני לשהות בו וגרמו לנו להרגיש כה רצויים. הם אוספים עבורנו בגדים, מוצרי היגיינה ועוד. רבים אחרים שואלים כיצד ניתן לעזור ולתרום. אני עדיין לא בטוחה מה השלב הבא אך אני יודעת שנצטרך סיוע כלכלי כדי לבנות מחדש את חיינו.

אינני יכולה להתחיל לחשוב על תכנית פעולה מנקודת פתיחה כה נמוכה. אין לנו דבר – לא בית, לא בגדים, לא מסמכים חשובים שאבדו, לא לפטופ, לא מכשירי חשמל, לא אלבום של החתונה, לא כתובה. כל החפצים ששמרנו מאביו של בעלי, שנפטר כשבעלי היה בן 14, והיוו זיכרונות ממנו אבדו. כל התמונות המשפחתיות נשרפו. לא נשאר כלום.

עקב גילו של ביתנו, לא הייתה לנו אפשרות לבטח אותו. אין לנו רשת ביטחון.
