Help Us Get to DI's Global Finals

Over the past couple of months, Tassajara Hills Elementary School, Danville, CA, was represented at the Destination Imagination (DI) Regional and State competitions.  By placing first at Regionals and second at State, the team qualifies to represent Tassajara Hills Elementary at Destination Imagination’s Global Finals which will be held May 24-27 at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Tassajara Hills Elementary will be represented by 4th graders Max McCay, Parker Pierce, Alex Rhee, and Joey Sabo, plus 5th graders Kyra McCool, and Emma Walsh.

They will compete with national and international teams in the Scientific Challenge, Top Secret.  It is one of seven, open-ended challenges that require young people to apply science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), in addition to improvisation, theater arts, writing, project management, communication, innovation, and teamwork.

Destination Imagination, Inc . is a 501(c)(3) volunteer-led non-profit organization whose purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. The organization is a leader in project-based learning experiences, where students work together in teams to solve open-ended STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) and service learning Challenges and then present their solutions at tournaments. Founded in 1982, Destination Imagination has impacted more than 1.5 million students.

The Tassajara Hills Elementary team members are among more than 8,000 students representing more than 1,250 teams that have advanced to the elite global competition.  In order to participate at Global Finals, the team is raising funds to help offset the $12,000 (registration fee, airfare,  ground transportation, and lodging) of expected expenses.
