Hi there. I'm Meghan, and I'm 15 years old. Yesterday (the 23rd), our power was shut off due to an extensive pileup of bills we've tried arranging to pay with Alliant Energy. Now, you must be thinking, "Why haven't you paid the bills?" It's a loooong story.
But, I'll save you the reading.
Basically, my family consists of: 50 year old Jackie (mom, counselor, former Sergeant), 46 year old Scott (dad, product manager, former military mechanic), me (oldest child, resident lesbian, graphic artist), 12 year olds Stephen, Michael, and Danielle (triplets, nerds), 9 month old Generoso (my cousin's son that we adopted, chubby and adorable), and our dog, Max (shih tzu, very stinky and fluffy).
We all suffer from various mental disorders, mine being PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety. Because of this, my mom has the Triplets and I seeing counselors. This has put us around $15k in debt. Mom and Dad have those too, as well as physical problems. Dad is quite literally ALWAYS in pain because of his back. Stephen suffers from Hypereosinophilia syndrome, as well as asthma. We all have bad eyesight, too. Well, except Michael.
But wait, there's more!
We're in debt with medical bills, house bills, and basically every kind of bill under the sun. We're broke, to say the least, so Alliant Energy said "to Hell with you!" and shut our power off after refusing to negotiate payments with us. It doesn't help that we're paying a babysitter so Mom can work.
Speaking of Generoso, did I mention his parents sold our gaming systems for coke, and stole $3k along with that? We also have Mom's gross older brother, who constantly cons us out of money.
So, uh. Please help us. We're running off of a generator from my dad's coworker (God bless you!). We're using candles and flashlights for light, which is kinda dangerous, considering our house is over 100 years old. Again, please help us. Every penny is a blessing.
