Help us get Dad to Laguna Seca!

Donation protected
During the Summer of 2016, my father was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's at the age of 58. While otherwise healthy, his short term memory has begun deteriorating. Having just lost his mother in 2015 to Alzheimer's, we are all too familiar with how this disease affects a life.

For years Dad has loved watching racing on TV. In 2014, he was finally able to get out on a racetrack with me in my car and see what it's like from the passenger seat. Since then, he hasn't stopped talking about his desire to build his own car and take it to the track. We figured we'd have plenty of time -- after all, he was only 56.

After the alzheimer's diagnosis, we knew we had to get after it. I moved from amazing Portland, Oregon to southern Utah, purchased the Miata you see above (with a bad engine), and we started into it! However, finances have entirely dried up, and we are left without the means to finish the project. He is already signed up for Miatas at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, which will take place in October of this year.

This is why I come to you! We need your help to get this car finished. We believe it is unlikely he will be capable of piloting this car a year from now, and this is likely the last chance we have of getting him on the track at Laguna Seca. I could piece it together if I had more time, but I have realized I can't do this without help. We have most of what we need for the car, but the biggest piece is missing -- the engine. We need to acquire an engine to finish this project. This is why our goal is $1500

Thank you for anything you can contribute, even if it's only words of support!
