Help Us Cultivate Erzulie’s Conjure Garden!

I am Elizabeth Ruth, the owner of Big Liz Conjure  and my new retail location Erzulie’s Conjure Garden, a spiritual shop opening May 4, 2019 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. I am an Ohio native who returned in 2015 after living in Chicago most of my adult life. I will be running the store with my two daughters and the assistance of three of my spiritual sisters.
 
I am a Mambo Su Pwen of Haitian Vodou and an experienced practitioner and purveyor of quality magical wares. My ethical, established online business reflects this. Ohio is a unique location because, although there is a large Pagan presence (and stores) in the community, there are no stores that are uniquely devoted to Rootwork (Hoodoo) and African Traditional Religions (ATRs).

My mission is to open my store without having to take out a large business loan. The lease has been signed, and we have funding set aside for the opening, but I wish to purchase a security system, a large screen TV for classes, and purchase items from POC Conjurers to stock in the store.

This will allow me to take a portion of the store’s profits and give back to members of the community by creating programs to educate them about the magical practices and religions of the African Diaspora and hosting community events that foster understanding of our complex spiritual beliefs.

Your contributions also allow me to substantially stock the store with items from fellow POC Conjurers unique to the magic of Black people and ATRs. Through carrying these items, I will be able to sell them locally and be an on-site resource for our clientele. Customers and clients will be able to make informed decisions about their magical practices, have a community that supports them, and assistance in fulfilling their spiritual product and educational needs.

My mission is to provide the highest quality spiritual products and services with ethics, honesty, and authenticity. My long-term goal is to become the largest, Black owned, international purveyor of Spiritual/Occult goods. I intend to uphold my reputation of authenticity, quality goods, education, and community support.

I am reaching out to the community for assistance to make this an amazing opening! When I open, I want to ensure that the quality of the establishment matches that of my practices/beliefs.

I will not half-ass this! I want my customers to have a comfortable, quality experience every time they walk into my doors. To guarantee that this endeavor not only meets but exceeds the expectations, there are substantial expenses to make this a reality. In keeping with African tradition, I am hoping that the community will come together to help me establish a presence that will be a resource for all.

My goal is to raise $10,000 before we open. Your help ensures that I can provide the absolute best in customer service and satisfaction without having to drastically increase my current prices for products and services. I intend to sell the products of other POC artisans/practitioners that are in line with the mission of the store.

This will allow small businesses the chance to sell their products in this area, as well as in the global marketplace through our website. The store will also provide divination and spiritual advisement services to my clients.

There are no face-to-face resources to specifically assist Black people as they discover their ancestral, magical and spiritual paths in central Ohio. Through my work in the Pagan community, I am astounded by how many brothers and sisters are seeking out spiritual guidance and education!

Because I know what it is like for people not to understand their path, and the feelings of isolation it can cause, and the miseducation they can receive, it is extremely important for me to make a positive impact and provide an avenue for people to discover all that the magic of Black Americans and ATRs have to offer.

Your help in making this store secure and well stocked will allow me to sponsor speakers, workshops, and pilgrimages that have not been offered in this area. Please help me to manifest this vision! I promise to keep paying it forward!
