Help Us Beat Curly and Afro Hair Discrimination

Our Current Website

Hi guys, I'm Sacha Atherton. Proud single mum, ex-homeless kid, entrepreneur and curly hair consultant.

I am also the founder of 'The Happy Hair Co.' an innovative new super brand for curly, natural and frizz-prone hair. I run this business alone with the help of my 7 year old daughter, Jaya.

Both Jaya and I have been fortunate enough to attract an amazing, supportive customer base and following since launching the business in April 2018. Through our products, expertise and content, both of us are able to help and inspire thousands of adults and children to not only care for their hair but to truly embrace it.

The truth is, so many women and children hate their hair. Believe it or not, we did too! Society and the media don't help. Even recently, there have been a number of beauty campaigns showing curly and afro hair in a negative light, with terms such as difficult, unruly and unprofessional being used and most of these alongside products that are supposed to cater for our "undesirable" hair.

Our core business is an online shop providing our own affordable luxury protective hair care products such as organic frizz towels, satin bonnets and pillowcases etc. What has become clear though, is that people need more than the products. They need advice and support throughout their hair journey, whether it be ditching the straighteners to embrace their curls or parents that struggle with their children's hair.

One of the main reasons we became so popular in such a short space of time isn't even really the celebrity collaborations we have done, or just the fact that our products work so well, it's also the connections we have made with so many (UK and overseas) through our Instagram page (@thehappyhairco) and events.

So, as we prepare to scale up, we want to do more of these events to help as many people as possible whilst remaining a profitable, purposeful business.

Your contribution will help us reach and support more people across the UK through pop up shops in major locations (shopping malls etc.), children's events to encourage confidence and positive representation and more of our very popular 'Daddy Daughter Hair Workshops'.

Jaya and I had a tough year in 2018 which resulted in me having to sell our house and possessions to repay debts. We also become homeless (again) until recently. Luckily, we have now relocated to a totally new city (scary but exciting) and found somewhere to rent for a few months, so we want to get back to putting our all into making 'The Happy Hair Co.' a great success, not just for our customers but for us too.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting us. We look forward to enjoying this exciting next chapter with you all.
