Help Unified Sports Build Bocce Courts at SPHS!
“On the field we are teammates…off the field we are friends”.
The Unified Sports Program in AACPS high schools helps to advance the mission of Special Olympics within the county. The program provides co-ed teams in tennis, bowling and bocce with a recommended ratio of 50% students with disabilities to 50% students without disabilities. Teams are constructed to provide training and competition opportunities that meaningfully challenge and involve all athletes. These opportunities lead to improved sport skills, higher self-esteem, equal status among peers and new friendships.
The Falcon Athletic Boosters Club at Severna Park High School (a 501(c)3) is fundraising to build permanent bocce courts on the high school campus for use by the Unified team. Currently the Bocce team plays on any open field using PVC piping for courts and they must compete with other sports for field time. Your contribution will bolster the visibility of the Unified Sports program at SPHS and will demonstrate our commitment to opportunities for all athletes.
The proposed courts at SPHS will be the first permanent bocce courts on an Anne Arundel County school campus. All donations are tax deductible and any individual donation of $1,000 or more will be recognized on the sponsor wall. Every dollar donated brings us closer to our goal!
