Trevor Weston is 14 years old, and up until recently, was an active, full of life kid that was involved in sports that he loved, spent time with family and friends... life was good
He had not been feeling well for a couple of weeks, and was taken to several doctors for treatment of what was thought to be just flu, or a virus going around. On Friday, 2/17/17, this family got a call that has changed life as they know it... a call no parent should ever have to get. The doctor let them know that they needed to pack their bags and get Trevor to the hospital that is an hour away because he has leukemia. Acute Myeloid Leukemia, known as AML. In less than 24 hours he was taken in for surgery for testing and to have a port put into his chest, which resulted in a collasped lung.
He was severely anemic and has had to have blood transfusions, platlet transfusions, and antibiotics due to a fever they need to keep under control. He is given morphine to try to ease the horrible pain he is in... all in one days time.
On Sunday, just 2 days after finding out he has cancer, he was recieving his first round of chemo, and it will continue for 10 straight days. The doctors are working fast to try to treat, and CURE him. It was a rough first night . Even with medications to ease the nausea, he sufffered from vomitting and bloody noses through the night, and needed his oxygen to be increased.
Trevor has a family that prays hard for his recovery, support from many friends and a community that is rallying behind him. He is so loved!
The medical costs and expenses to come will be immense. Any help that they can get to help Trevor get the treatments he needs, would be so appreciated. He will be in the hospital for a very long time. There's no way for the doctors to give an exact discharge date, but they have said it will be many months of treatment. At least 4 months before he can possibly go home. No child should have to fight for their life, and no parent should have to worry about having the money to save them. Trevor needs your help.
