Help the Rareys battle PTSD
My friends, your help is desperately needed. My friend Joe has been battling PTSD since he left the US Navy, and he and his family need our help to get through this.
Joe and his amazing wife Ann Marie live in Washingtion and have two of the most beautiful kids you will ever see. Their son Thomas is 6 years old and their daughter Maggie is 2. They are one of the most beautiful families you will ever see, but inside they are being eaten alive by PTSD.
I knew Joe was battling this for a while, but i didnt realize it was at this level. I will let him tell you howe bad it is from a facebook post of this this morning...
"Can I have your attention please?
I am not an exceptionally lazy asshole indifferent to the suffering of my family.
I do not need tough love
...Motivation is not what is missing
A job will not fix me
What has happened is very hard for me to accept. To become incapacitated, like this. To be unable to do even the simplest of tasks.
To watch my family stay with me as we have lost everything and hang now from the thinnest of threads.
It is very hard for me to accept that they would be better taken care of in my absence.
It’s hard to see that it’s me, my scarred personality which has alienated nearly everyone and seeming able bodied presence that continues to drag this out for them.
This is the point where the majority who are similarly affected as me kill themselves. They cannot swallow the shame of who they are.
I choked on it for a long time, but I’m staying.
Please don’t punish them because of me. I am getting treatment and medication for PTSD. I don’t know what the future holds. But as of right now, we need real help. We’re drowning and it is not fair to them."
And in response to someone asking what they needed right now...
"Very specifically, we need money right now. In any denomination"
Most of you wont know Joe, or his family so let me tell you who they are. I met Joe back in 2009 after he, a friend, and i all met on the website "Bowsite". We decided to go on an archery elk hunt in Idaho. I learned a lot about Joe on that trip, but i learned more about myself. Watching and listening to Joe I realized what a good man really was. He is a selfless servant to this country and served honorably for years. After he left the military, like so many he hasnt really picked up where he left off before military life.
Right now we cant help him get better. He is getting the treatment and medication he needs, but in the meantime they have fallen on hard times and are desperately behind on their finances- which is where we can help them. Battling a severe case of PTSD has to be very stressfull on all of them, but to add in the added stress of financial strain is unimaginable not to mention the crazieness of the holiday season that is upon us.
Lets please give them a break from their financial burden. Any help you can send them will go towards general day to day expenses such as housing, food, and providing a Christmas to their wonderful kids.
I have a little over 1,300 facebook friends. If 50% of us kicked in $20 we could bring some much needed help to the Rareys. I know some of you would be able to give much, much more and i beg you to consider it.
I never would have imagined that i would come to you guys asking for anything, but im begging you lets please help my friend and his family. In the bigger picture you might think $20 isnt going to help, but it will and compounded by 500 or 1000 people its REAL help. All i am asking you is give up the cost of one box of ammo, one meal out, dont buy that stupid dvd you have been thinking about- lets help these guys get through this difficult time.
I greatly appreciate any donation you can give and will consider it a great personal favor.
