Help the PNW Spaniel Squad

Hi all! 

Many of Mickey’s Instagram readers have asked that we start this.

Most of you know that my husband and I take in senior and special needs Spaniels: Mickey, Darcy, Daisy, Penny, Banjo, Tulip, and Georgia.

Four see a cardiologist, two see a neurologist, one sees an eye specialist, one has an Internist . And it all cost quite a bit. 

Traditionally my husband and I have a fund set up for our dogs to cover wellness exams, dentals, and cardiologist appointments. 

However last year my husband had a heart attack (he is fine now thankfully), a second stent put in, and I had a 24 hour stay at the hospital as well for something they never actually figured out. 

And while we do have health insurance, our dog fund was completely wiped and then some, with debt from it. 

I myself am disabled and I work from home running a food blog for the last 14 years. The money I make from the blog is how we pay for our dogs medicines, vet appointments, food, supplements, etc. 

This last week I lost my longest standing and largest client. Where 70% of my income comes from, they themselves lost their funding for it. 

While I hope to get other clients the bulk of budgets for food blogs are all decided in January. So I may not even be able to get new clients until then. And being disabled I am limited to what I can do and can't just go get a job. 

Today Mickey suffered a Grand Mal seizure.
We first took him to our vet because it was close and they sent us to the ER that our neurologist works at in hopes of getting in to see her. She was not there today and so since Mickey was stable we have an appointment on Monday morning.

They are most likely going to want to do an MRI which will run about $3000 (Seattle is a higher cost area). Mickey is not on health insurance as he has too many health issues and we got him as a senior. 

Today was a glaring reality that we need help. Help getting that fund built back up a little while I work on getting more work and to pay for Mickey's possible MRI and new medication if he continues to have seizures. And to have some money to have for an ER visit. Today we lucked out as we had money set aside for Daisy's cardiologist appointment on May 24th...though now since we used that we don't have the money to take her to that appointment. 

I don't really know how much we will need. The number I gave is what we usually have in the fund when started. 

I really, really did not want to ask for help since I am currently raising money for our Walk for Old Dogs for Old Dog Haven. And that is my passion and I don't want to take money away from them.

But we really do need your help. 

I will keep you all posted on if Mickey has another seizure and how his appointment goes.
