Help the locals in Lombok
Donation protected
A big earthquake has struck Lombok. Many villages have been destroyed, people are wounded and lives have been taken.
In the winter of 2017, I stumbled onto this lovely family in Desa Karang banjo, Kecamatan Bayan, Lombok. I’ve asked them to bring me to Mountain Rinjani and teach me how to cook local food. It wasn’t my original plan to stay with them for 3 weeks in the jungle, but they were so hospitable and inspiring. We were teaching each other so much.
80% of their village has been destroyed after the earthquake struck on Sunday at 6:47 a.m. local time. We called a few hours after it happened, the connection wasn’t very good as the electricity was down at this point.
Everyone is helping each other in the village, they are helping building tents, making food for each other, helping with medical care and more. The main income for these people is bringing tourists to hike the Vulcano, Mountain Rinjani. This is closed at the moment because of the landslides. Atm a few hundred people are stuck at the lake of Mnt Rinjani as they can’t go back because of these landslides. (Something the news doesn’t tell you).
Income isn’t much for these local people, on top of that, they can only earn money during the season when they are allowed to hike the volcano (Mnt Rinjani).
They have helped me so much during my stay, that I feel it’s my time to help.
It’s time to give back.
All the money will be donated to the locals of the village and the villages around. Making sure we can supply them with food, shelter and medication.
