Help the Haight/Garcia Family

On the night of November 2nd, the Haight/Garcia Family received so much water damage in their home. Their landlord just began doing roof work, so currently the house has no shingles, and they didn’t even lay down tarps to cover the holes on the roof before the torrential downpour. City of Beacon Fire Department had to come last night to turn off the electricity because the water in the walls was causing the outlets to pop. 3 rooms in the house are very bad, the kitchen and 2 bedrooms. These rooms need all light fixtures and walls to be removed in order to assess the water damage/mold in the walls. The beds in both bedrooms are destroyed, and all the food they had is now bad. The electricity cannot be turned back on until the walls are torn down in these rooms, meaning that they are homeless for the time being. The landlord claims that this is not her fault (even though the roof should have been fixed years ago) and that she will not pay for a hotel room for this Family. For the time being, some of them will be staying with me and my fiancée in our 1 bedroom apartment and the rest will squeeze into my mom’s spare bedroom. This is not an ideal situation and they have no idea when they can come back. I would love to raise some money in order to pay for the cats to be boarded (I have my own pets and can’t take anymore), money for food, and possibly some money for a night or two at a hotel.
