Help the Family of Michael Boorsma

Donation protected
As friends, colleagues or veterans that know the Boorsma family we all know what special people they are.  You can ask a favor and if they can help, they always will even if it means getting up in the middle of the night in a snowstorm to help a friend out of a ditch!

The head of the Boorsma family "Big Mike" I remember him being nicknamed passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 14, 2018 in Kokomo, IN a Veterans Reunion and his family is still in shock.

Michael was united in marriage on October 26, 1974 to Jane L. Byland and they spent the next 43 happy years together. Mr. Boorsma served his country proudly with the United States Marine Corp during the Vietmam War. He was employed for many years as a truck driver.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jane L. Boorsma of DeKalb, IL; his children, Patrick Michael Boorsma, Sr. of Batavia, IL, Heather (David) Tyska of Wheeling, WV and Daniel Boorsma of Waterman, IL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his five siblings; as well as many nieces and nephews.

My oldest son Rick was a good friend of Dan's and I was so touched when the Boorsma family came to my son's memorial and the stories Mike, Jane, Dan and Pat told me that evening.  It lifted my heart in such a difficult time.  There were a group of kids on Prairie and Lathem in Batavia that grew up together and they were all great friends and the boys spent a lot of time at each other's houses and definitely the Boorsma home was a favored place to go.  I was always one of the more tightly wound mom's while Jane was so easy going and sweet!

Like many families in today's difficult times, Mike had no life insurance and the family really could use help with funeral expenses.  He spent his life loving his family and protecting our country.  If you can help financially in any amount, they would truly appreciate it.  The family will take all proceeds and pay for his final expenses.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read and I pray you can help out in this really difficult time!
