Help the Caulfield Fire Department

Donation protected
Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Shannon Sisney. I took over the fire department in August of 2017 and have had some struggles. I have been in the fire service since 1999 and I am also active law enforcement. Now on to why we are here. Since I took over we have one working truck, which is a 2009 Freightliner Class A Pumper.

We have an awesome group of guys responding to calls now, however, we don’t have reliable trucks for these calls, like stated above we have one truck and calls are increasing. Our pumper was not maintained like it should have been and now we are having issues with it, it is to the point that I don’t want to train with it because I am afraid that it will fail and we wouldn’t have a truck at all.

We just got a truck from conservation that we are working on to turn into a brush truck, this takes money that we don’t really have. The gear that we wear at fires is expired and unsafe, we have no SCBAs, which are what we use to breathe in a house that is on fire. We have a very limited number of radios, and only four pagers, which makes it hard to get people responding when they don’t know there is a call.

I am scared to death that out one truck is going to fail and we won’t be able to protect our community. We have proposed trading our current truck for two other trucks however the community is unsure of this and we are waiting for the final vote.

We are asking for funds to maintain as well as possibly buy what is needed to get the brush truck going and any of the other items that may be needed. PLEASE HELP US HELP THE COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE.   Thank you for your time.
