Please Help Send This Great Team of 5th Graders From Wildwood Elementary School in Mountain Lakes, NJ to the Destination Imagination Global Finals!
After coming in First Place in our in our State Tournament, we are one of only 12 teams from NJ going to the Destination Imagination Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee! But, to get there, our team needs to raise about $15,000 to pay for team registration, plane tickets, rental truck to drive our stage to Tennessee, meal plans, rooms, and more.

What is Destination Imagination (DI)?
Destination Imagination is an educational organization that gives students the chance to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation, by teaching participants the essential skills of creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.
DI's main program is a global problem solving tournament that begins with the fall school semester each year. Elementary, middle, and high school students form teams of up to seven members, and each team selects one of seven mind-bending Challenges created by Destination Imagination volunteers. With the guidance of a teacher or parent as Team Manager, each team creates an action plan and works together for weeks or months to develop and create a solution to the Challenge. From the U.S to China, Poland, Colombia and Brazil, student creativity is unleashed in astonishing ways in the Destination Imagination program.
Each year, 1,400 or more teams advancing from regional, state, and country-level tournaments have the opportunity to compete at Destination Imagination's Global tournament held in May at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. We will be up against 8,000 of the brightest minds across the world. It is a true honor to represent our school and our town.
First, teams compete in the state competition. Then, the top two teams in the state finals will advance to the global competition in Knoxville, Tennessee.
How did we get here?
Our team, "The Brainiacs" decided our challenge would be the "Show and Tech" category. The challenge is to build a stage and perform a play or skit. The important aspects are:
1. There must be an opening act, then moving into a main performance
2. You must utilize at least 2 Techincal Features in the play - we utilized Sound Effects and Lighting.
3. The tough one - you must come up with a way to "move" a team member from one side of the stage to the other.
Our team had incredible scores, nailing every aspect of their performance. The children worked tirelessly for 10 - 12 hours each week for months.
We don't want to brag but our performance was INCREDIBLE and the talk of the show. The children came up with there own opening song and dance (the crowd went wild!) and then put together an incredible story line that showed the genius that can come out of an 11 year olds imagination.
