Help The Baby Monitor get to Dublin

Donation protected

After a successful December workshop at Manhattan's Theater at the 14th Street Y, Different Translation's production of  David Stallings' THE BABY MONITOR has been invited to perform at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival from May 6th through the 11th in Dublin, Ireland.

With this opportunity we look forward to  furthering social change throughout the  world with this story of acceptance. Inspired by true events, award-winning playwright David Stallings has been working on this play for the last seven years. As we did more research, the stories kept piling up, and with it deeper incendiary nightmares, such as intolerance, bigotry, racism, and micro-aggressions by loved ones.  And since the election two years ago the play has become more relevant than ever. We also hope to make new connections and find new opportunities for this play and the artists involved.

In order to travel our production and the artists involved,  all we need to raise is $10,000.
We  are hoping to reach our goal in 30 days.

"Just as Stallings’ drama boldly taps into the feelings of its well-written, multi-faceted characters, it challenges the audience to do the same."  -Lavender After Dark

"A fascinating examination of how quickly intimates can resort to self-serving, backstabbing deception just when their loyalty is most needed." -Theater Scene

"Although billed as a “workshop” of the play, the production is over-qualified to be called such." -Opplaud New York

"David Stallings has delivered something far richer than an issues play." - The Unforgettable Line

When Claire’s concerns over the welfare of her two-year-old cousin are dangerously validated, she begins to question the family's principles and ability to parent. A crucial new play exploring same-sex parenting, race,  and contemporary family values.

A finalist for the 2014 National New Play Network, The Baby Monitor was developed in Hollywood at The Blank Theatre's Living Room Series; in New York it received a workshop production at New York City’s Theater at the 14th Street Y as part of their season of War & Peace, at Planet Connections Theatre Festivity's Playwrights for A Cause, at The Duo Multicultural Arts Center's Pride Week Festival, and Original Binding Productions' Naked Theater Festival.
