I am doing a skydive (much to my mother's disgrace) on the 18th May 2018 to raise money to help two very important causes in my life, the charity The Big C and the residents suffering from dementia ...
As a lot of you know my family are going through our own battle fighting cancer. My beautiful, wonderful, brave and stubborn mum is going through the fight of her life. She has her amazing strong family by her side which her grandson describes and nannies Army. As well as her army she also has a wonderful organisation The Big C. They help those who are fighting cancer. They have meeting groups which help mum and dad realise that they are not alone, they offer body massages not only for mum but for someone to be with her, they offer endless tea and biscuits which is always good for thing them two, they offer so many different ways of support that really help those suffering from cancer and it has helped my mum have a spring in her step, helped her fight this nasty cancer.
I'm raising money for my wonderful mum so they can carry on supporting many other people. Mum would much rather me be on the ground doing a sponsored silence than jumping out of a plane but let's face it one I could never shut up for longer than 5mins so a sponsored silence is out the window and secondly, I have always kept my mum on her toes so why change now.
The other organisation very close to my heart is supporting the amazing residents with dementia at the residential home I work at.
Dementia is a illness that’s doesnt just effect the person with dementia but also the whole family. It’s so important to support the whole family and to try to keep their independence going as long as we can. I am also jumping for them to get them more sensory equipment to help them not only keep their independence but to help them through their everyday life, such as flashcards that will help the residents who have difficulties expressing themselves, and many more things.
Both very important causes for myself and my family and friends. As one big army, we fight this together and keep both wonderful organisations going. Please help me raise money for these wonderful causes.
