Support Lauren as she fights colon cancer
Donation protected
Early December 2018, Lauren started to get frequent fevers without the doctor able to find a cause other than the onset of anemia. The day before New Year's Eve, she experienced excruciating stomach pains that had her doubled over all day. She decided to see a new doctor after the stomach pains and a rapid 25 lb weight loss over a couple months. After medication for a kidney infection did not work, she had a CT scan and MRI showing colon cancer that had metastasised to her liver. The oncologist diagnosed her as stage 4 with likely no cure.
Lauren went in for emergency surgery when the colonoscopy revealed that the tumor was almost completely obstructing her colon. She is now recovering from surgery and starting chemo treatments. She will be on 3 different types of chemo for the next 6 months to try and shrink the spots on her liver. Treatment after that point will depend on how she responds to the current plan.
This will be a lifelong battle for Lauren. These funds will help pay for the hospital bills and chemo treatments that she will require for the rest of her life. We appreciate anything that you can contribute and thank you so much.
If you have any type of cancer in your family, take charge of your own health. Lauren's father and grandfather both had colon cancer at the age of 60. She and her siblings were told to start getting colonoscopy's at the age of 40. At 37, she has stage 4 colon cancer. Please please get checked earlier than you think! You are never too young.
