As most of you may know by now, my beloved brother, Dean Klear was hospitalized on November 25th, 2016 while in Costa Rica. As part of his medical treatment, his doctors have placed him in a medically induced coma until yesterday. When he was brought to a conscious state last night, he still has no memory of the past several weeks, can’t read or write and will need to be hospitalized for an indeterminate length of time.
Since he is located outside of United States, the insurance companies don’t pay directly to hospitals unless you have specific international travel insurance, so it means that all monies must be paid up front. The medical expenses and ancillary travel costs have far exceeded what we can handle as a family. Fortunately, we had one family member that was able to make the journey quickly to Costa Rica to be by his side through this ordeal. After a long discussion it was decided that as a family we should put all money towards his recovery and not fly more family members down to Costa Rica.
We would like to bring Dean back to the United States for his complete recovery. However, since he is still in a very unstable condition, transporting him right now would not be in his best interest. Therefore, for the time being he will remain hospitalized in Costa Rica. Once he is back in the US, it is going to take some time for him to heal.
Any unused donations will be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
For those of you who know Dean personally, can attest to how genuine and giving of a person he is. He has a big heart and puts others’ needs over his. As everyone can imagine, our family is completely devastated that we can’t all be by his side as he is going through this.
Along with Prayers, Love, and Support, we would greatly appreciate any help that you may be able to provide Dean and our family at this time as Dean works towards his recovery.
We will update everyone as to his progress as much as possible.
