Help Students Fight Trafficking!

We need your help to make this change. Here is our story, please consider donating:

Who are we?
AU Students Against Human Trafficking  is a student group that raises awareness about domestic trafficking among college students while facilitating the work of anti-trafficking organizations in D.C. through Advocacy, Community Engagement and Education.

We were founded in 2017, by a group of passionate students understanding the gap in awareness and the need for additional resources for organizations doing amazing work in the D.C. area. Since its founding, we have had trainings  for college students about human trafficking by professionals in the D.C. area, fundraised to reduce the costs of metro fares for survivors of trafficking in order for them to have access to critical case management & legal resources and even provided a drop-in center for youth survivors with a microwave!

Why do we need your support?
AU Students Against Human Trafficking is honored to host the Second Annual Collegiate Leaders in the Fight for Freedom Convention  at American University in Washington, D.C on April 28th 2018.

What is the Collegiate Leaders in the Fight for Freedom Convention?
The convention hopes to equip and connect emerging leaders in the fight against modern slavery. We recognize the multifaceted nature of human trafficking and hope to leverage diverse collegiate and professional networks to develop innovate and intersectional approaches to the anti-salvery movement.

This convention is an investment of human rights experts, international and domestic organizations, and government officials in the human rights leaders of the future. Students working together to fight human trafficking under the guidance of the facilitators of the convention will:

1. Maximize the efficacy of their work and effort

2. Provide a system of support for existing organizations and experts, and human rights leaders

3. Gain the skills and training necessary for a lifetime of human rights work.

We want to see each one of the students attending seeing their work as existing within a framework of overlapping and concentric circles, this complex web of vicious vectors that underlie modern slavery. Every student coming to our convention can hope to have skills developed and ideas shared through the course of the day.

Where is your money going to go?
We are trying to keep the costs to attend this conference at a minimum to give students a chance to engage in meaningful conversation and expand their learning. With $750.00 we are able to cover the costs of speaker honorariums, a pre-conference webinar and the operational costs of the conference.

This is the Second Annual conference put together by an intercollegiate network, called the Collegiate Leaders in the Fight for Freedom, the first was held at Harvard College in MA last year and this year there are three conferences- San Diego, New York and Washington, D.C. (aka us!). AU Students Against Human Trafficking is crafting & hosting the D.C. conference!

The San Diego conference was spectacular and gained traction on CNN: https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2018/03/12/cfp-cliff-conference.cnn

Help us make the D.C. Conference a success!!
