Help Steve Gordon fight Brain Cancer

Donation protected
In Feb this year, Steve Gordon was a seemingly healthy man, however a persistent headache whilst on a well-deserved holiday saw him head to a local medical centre. After a CT Scan and MRI, he was given the news that he had a large tumour on his brain. A week later he was in surgery having the tumour removed by world renowned brain surgeon Dr Charlie Teo. A biopsy of the tumour confirmed what none of us wanted to hear. Steve was diagnosed with Grade 4 glioblastoma. In layman terms, Steve has terminal brain cancer. The statistics are not pretty, the average survival time is 12-18 months with only 25% of glioblastoma patients surviving more than one year, and only 5% of patients surviving more than five years.

Family and friends are naturally shocked and devastated by this news, we are so appreciative of all that have reached out by sending caring messages and providing emotional support. Steve has touched the lives of so many people, and he continues to do so. He gracefully combines strength, gentleness and humour, even during this very difficult and uncertain time.

He is quite literally fighting for his life, and if you ask him, he will be the first to tell you, “I’m not done yet.”

So many people have asked “How can we help?”

Steve does not want to ask, nor does he expect anyone to donate, but has agreed to us creating a platform where people can donate if they wish. The reality is, the medical costs associated with his recent surgery are astronomical, and there are more costs to come for his radiation and chemotherapy treatments. All donations made will go directly to past and future medical expenses.

We are all sincerely appreciative of your thoughts and well wishes, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Edit:
Not everyone is aware what the costs are like for this sort of cancer.

Just to help put it in perspective, Stephen’s surgery including anaesthetist came to $42,500.00. This was required up front, with one days notice.

His private health insurance is giving back about $7000.00

Then there’s the Chemo drugs. They’re about $600 a month at the moment.

Thankfully the radiation treatment is mostly covered by Medicare.

Thanks again for your support
