Help Stephanie Get her Kidney

Donation protected
Ever since Stephanie Roat was born she has struggled with significant health problems.  Her status has
become her norm, and as a result she is a happy child with a medical condition that doesn’t always
mirror her attitude.  Essentially, Stephanie’s organs never fully developed so her internal
plumbing does not look like or function like most people. This creates challenges for her on a daily basis
that she has grown to live with and accept.

Now that she has turned 13 years of age, Stephanie’s parents Jim and Karen have been told by doctors
she requires a kidney transplant.  Because of Stephanie’s unique medical conditions, Jim and Karen
have to routinely fly their daughter to UCLA as these doctors understand and can treat her conditions.  Considering the cost of travel, the doctor fees, medications, and the fact that these frequent trips take them away from their jobs, the bills have started to pile up.  Jim and Karen are anticipating the transplant will take place sometime this summer.  Should the transplant come later in the year,  Stephanie will have to undergo dialysis treatments which requires traveling to Phoenix 3 times a week resulting in more  time lost from work.

Jim and Karen are devoted public servants who have sacrificed their own comfort to serve others.  Jim is
a law enforcement officer and Karen has been a teacher for most of their adult lives.  They are never
going to be rich, but they have found value and worth in helping others.  When I first approached Jim
about asking for help, he was hesitant to accept it. Jim and his wife are people of quality, humility, and
character who would have probably never asked for help on their own.  So I will ask for them.

They can anticipate significant financial hardship in the next several months, so anything you can do to
help them would be greatly appreciated.  Because Stephanie suffers from so many additional medical concerns, her need for a kidney is critical in the coming months.  The smallest of donations can make the biggest of differences when enough people chip in.  Thank you so much for helping these truly deserving people and their young daughter!
