Help Soma Basu

To help Soma Basu who lost her husband - Sabya-da on 10/17/2018. She needs help to overcome the tragic and unexpected shock of her husband's passing away.

My name is Jayanta Banerjee and I was a friend of Sabyasachi Basu (Sabya-da). We had spent many hours together discussing Indian classical music. Soma, his wife, used to perform at our community events. It is so sad that she lost her beloved husband who was a constant source of inspiration for her.
We are from Portland, Oregon where I had known him for the last 12 years.  Soma does not work and now needs help to take care of immediate expenses that are usually associated with cremation, memorial services and other payments like utility bills, immediate mortgage payments, groceries, cleaning services, yard services, education expenses for her daughter, medical expenses to name a few. It will take a while for her to come to terms with this terrible loss before she starts to get a handle on the financial situation. Our fund-raising from the community patrons will go a long way to help her in this dire situation and give her much needed peace of mind that she and her little daughter yearn for. I have been paying from my personal account to take care of her immediate expenses while I wait for the fund money to be transferred to my account. The community patrons have authorized me to go with this arrangement to keep things simple. Once we take care of all the payments, we plan to hand-over any remaining funds to Soma through her bank account. Our community response has been overwhelming and spontaneous and we thank gofundme for giving us this opportunity to raise funds and help Soma and her adorable daughter.

I am deeply saddened by her tragic loss. Sabyasachi Basu was a likeable personality and he was like an elder brother to me. His untimely demise has plunged our entire community to a state of shock and mourning.
