Our sister Sofia Tekleab was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2018. Her immediate concern was not about herself but her family.
Sofia knew the road ahead will be difficult, but she faced it head on.
She did 4 rounds of chemotherapy and went under surgery to remove her right breast followed by another 4 rounds of chemotherapy.
Sofia was told she is cancer free, and she was happy and grateful. Not long ago Sofia started feeling sick and coughing a lot. She went to the hospital for a check up, and that is when she got the devastating and unexpected news, she have lung cancer. She is taking some medications to prevent the cancer from spreading.
Unfortunately none of us can ease the physical burden that Sofia faces but we can clearly help lessen the financial burden.
