Help Send Robert Perez to ITLA (Dominican College)

Hola! My name is Charlotte and I recently returned from an inspiring and eye-opening trip to the Dominican Republic with VISIONS Service Adventures. After seeing wonderful, kind people living in extreme poverty firsthand, I realized that not only is it important to be grateful everyday for what I have, but it is my job to do everything I can to spread love and provide help to people who are less fortunate whenever possible. And now I have the opportunity!
During my trip, I got to know sixteen-year-old Robert Perez, one of the kindest and smartest people I’ve met. He lives in Santo Domingo with his wonderful mother, who works tirelessly to pay rent for their one bedroom house, and his sweet younger brother who will start ninth grade this year. Robert’s mother is a huge inspiration to him, and Robert is forever grateful for the way she puts family first. It is because of her that Robert has always excelled at school, because he has something worth working for.
Robert began learning English when he was 6 years old and was practically fluent by the time he turned thirteen. Aside from language, Robert has a knack for working with computers. During high school, he completed extra classes with The Intergenerational Network of Multipliers of Safe Internet Use (RIAMUSI) that taught him how to build secure programs. In the future, he hopes to work more with social media and networking safety.
Robert just graduated from Emma Balaguer High School, where he has attended since seventh grade. Through his years there, he has studied hard and won an award for academic excellence and another award for having the best speech in an inter-school debate. Robert’s next step is college. He hopes to continue his education this fall at the Instituto Tecnológico de las Américas, or ITLA. However, his family is not even able to pay for him to apply, much less attend two years there. But we can help!
Any donations, however small, that can be made to help Robert go to this college will be much appreciated. The money raised will pay for the ITLA application fee and six semesters at the school. This is a chance to make a huge difference in one family’s life, and every little act of kindness is important! Robert and his family cannot begin to express their gratitude for your help!
