Help Save Savannah's Kiah Museum

Donation protected
The Friends of the Kiah House Museum is a non-profit, community based group dedicated to supporting the historic preservation efforts and research of the CFSAADMC.

The Center for the Study of African and African Diaspora Museums and Communities, (CFSAADMC) is a collective of anthropologists and others who use museum anthropology to study different perspectives of the African Diaspora. The purpose is to disseminate information about Black museums worldwide. The acquisition of a professional directory of Blacks in Museums began the research efforts of CFSAADMC members to identify the directory participants. One of which was Mrs. Virginia Jackson Kiah and the Kiah Museum in Savannah, Georgia. With a dedicated group of people preservation of the musuem became the striving purpose.
Believed to be the first museum established by African-Americans in Savannah. The couple turned their home into a museum in 1959.
The research determined that the founders were deceased and the museum is boarded up and deteriorating .  The last founder died in 2001 and the museum ceased operations.
