Help us Save our Shelter

Please help us mend our HART...

Hoopeston Animal Rescue Team (HART) is a registered 501 c 3 NFP, all-volunteer, open-admission, no-kill animal shelter located in Hoopeston, (Vermilion County) in the state of Illinois.  HART owns the shelter facility at 901 West Main Street, Hoopeston, IL.  Our mission is to provide a safe environment for lost, abandoned, sick and injured animals. 

We work in cooperation with our  community and other animal agencies to ensure animals receive the love and the medical care necessary to enjoy a high quality of life. We also educate animal owners and the general public about proper pet care, reunite pets with families and prevent cruelty to animals.  Most importantly, we seek to place homeless animals in responsible, loving “forever homes”.   HART believes that every pet matters!

Despite having cared for over 1300 animals since 2013, HART has maintained a zero euthanasia rate for space, behavior, or temperament.  While adhering to a strict no-kill policy, our team works very hard to ensure that each animal receives a chance at well-being, no matter what condition we find them in. 

HART’s veterinarian bills were  over $37,000 in 2017.  HART has been able to raise, by way of donations and fundraising, the funds to pay for this much needed and crucial expense. 
This year, our shelter and our pets need your help. While we maintain the utmost care for our homeless cats and dogs, our shelter needs crucial enhancements for a better quality of life for these innocent souls. Our current shelter is small, and therefor crowded and very much in need of additional space for the animals in our care.

We need your help to raise money for the following improvements (we have added pictures and video): 

1- We need an additional space to include an adoption floor with larger sized dog kennels and a play yard.
2- We need a cat room and lobby area  to include cat condos, new windows (we currently don't have any windows in that room). In addition, we are planning to have an outdoor catio for the cats. Some of our cats are with us for many months, some over a year - they deserve to get out of their cages and live a better life while they wait to find forever homes.
3- We plan on building a handicapped guest restroom
4- We need new air conditioning  - because there isn't any up front. In summer it gets hot.
5- We need an interior remodel for a second viewing/exam room (which we currently do not have).
6- We need a new roof - our ceiling is leaking and we are lucky each day we do not have emergent problems because of that.
7- We need new flooring - our floors are old and some of the tiles are not intact .

We estimate a cost of $50,000 of these necessary enhancements. You can help with as little as few dollars. We maintain the best care and love for our pets, and we are determined on ensuring them the best at all times. Because we grow on donations, your help is very much needed.
