Help Save Disabled Woman in Reno from Homelessness
Support this Go Fund Me to Help to Keep Francie Moeller, a 67-year old severely disabled senior woman from being evicted from her Reno, Nevada Apartment into potentially life- threatening circumstances.
My friend, Francie Moeller is in a dire situation, living alone, in poor health, with minimal assistance and facing imminent eviction from her apartment into cold, inclement weather while her scooter and lift-equipped vehicle which she relies upon for mobility are broken or barely functioning.
[UPDATE 3/19: On Monday at 9 AM Francie had to appear in court. Although she wasn't evicted now, the Judge was very unsympathetic to her disabilities and her difficulties travelling as a wheelchair user which made her late for her appearance. The Judge allowed the landlord to impose most of the extra charges they demanded and set a Friday deadline to pay just under $1100 -- 200 more than her base rent.
This all happened despite the fact that the landlord has made Francie's living conditions
progressively worse in an apartment lacking basic amenities and with unreliable utility service. This means she needs to raise even more money to survive.]
Francie is used to helping others. She was an advocate for people with disabilities and women and a small businesswoman for most of her life. Then 9 years ago her husband after inheriting a large sum of money decided to divorce her -- because he didn't want to deal with her disability anymore -- and employed a ruthless lawyer who by devious means made certain that Francie lost her home and almost all her other assets. She was left with nothing but the bills.
Since then Francie has been repeatedly robbed and taken advantage of by aides, banks, storage facilities, towing companies and apartment owners. Most local social service agencies have failed or been unable to help and she has fallen behind on her rent. She needs to raise the money quickly to pay her back rent and/or relocate to new housing as well as to fix her car. Francie really wants to return to California but needs to find a place that she can afford;.
Please support her ASAP in this time of need. Eviction is Imminent and she needs at least $3000 to stabilize her situation. It could be a matter of life and death.
Donate what you can and then speak to your friends to ask them to donate whatever they can to this worthy cause or use social media to spread the word.
Francie advocated for the disabled for so many years. Please help her to survive this crisis.
