Help Ryanne Run Away to the Circus

$6,000 of $7,000 goal

Raised by 73 people in 17 months
My name is Ryanne. I've been accepted into The Circus Project 's "Elements" Training Program. This is a 9 month intensive training program that offers up to 20hrs per week of classes, private lessons, and workshops all focused on circus arts. I've created the videos and essays and now just need to money to make this dream my reality.  This is a HUGE leap in the direction of where I want my life to continue. I am both terrified and thrilled to begin this journey and am asking for your help in making it happen.

Goals & Dates:
The training program is $4150 for the full 9 months. Half ($2,075)  of which is due by August 15th, 2017 and the other half on January 1st, 2018. I've been accepted into a work study program that cost the cost by a significant amount. I am also working on talking through options for payment plans.

I've increased the overall fundraising goal to assist with relocating and travelling costs as well as help with additional workshops and guest events on the schedule.  The program beings on Sept. 5th.

Why should you give me your money?
Performing is my passion, my happiness, my escape, my life. I started dance at 5 years old, theater at 8, and aerial at 16. Elements is a program that not only offers full, intensive training in aerial arts, but all circus and performing arts. I have been offered an opportunity to grow my artistic expression and my creative flow. I applied to this program at the beginning of June with no expectations of it becoming a reality and have received word that I am in! (Is this real life?!?!)

I have never lived outside of the Central Coast, let alone California. This opportunity is one that came fast and hard. This is a dream come true and the thought of not being able to attend due to finances breaks my heart. This is why I need your help.

One of the main reasons why I was so attracted to moving my training to The Circus Project in Portland was that they offer one of the only training programs for homeless youth within area. I love that the next place I am going to call Home, cares so deeply about their community and I cannot wait to become a part of it. (Not the homeless part though, that's what you are helping with ;) ).

I cannot express how much your support has meant and will continue to mean to me throughout this performance journey of mine. I only hope to continue to improve and make you proud.

I've hit what I need to move and pay the first half of tuition. HOLY SCHNIKES THIS IS HAPPENING!!! This has been a rollercoaster of a ride and I couldn't be more grateful. I should be heading up within the next few weeks to start my job hunt and get acclimated to the area before the program begins. I am so freaking excited and I am so ready to do this!

I am not going to close the fundraiser just yet as craziness has unfurled in regards to my work study program. An extra $1000 is now needed before January 15th. I'm hoping to have some updates around then as I'll be half way through. YIKES!!! Don't forget about me when I'm gone!

My heart is bursting. I cannot believe things happened so quickly! This week has been a rollercoaster of feelings, thoughts, and brain weasels. I wish I had the words to express my gratitude. I am SO close to meeting my goal! (Anything extra will help with the work trade and moving costs.)

I am so thankful for each and every one of you who made this happen. I am in awe. I cannot wait to get up there and make you proud! The training I'll be receiving will be life changing, moving will be life changing. I am discovering who I am and how to express my emotions and passions. This dance medium is unlike so many others, yet quite similar. It is expressive, brutal, graceful, and goofy. Diving deeper in to theory, technique, and creative voice is something I long for and am so excited to start!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Wowzers, I leave in less than two weeks! I appreciate the support from my friends more than I have words to express. The kind words of encouragement and support have been fueling me through the fear of change.

At this point though, I haven't quite hit the halfway goal of attending the program. What this means is that I can either give up and try again next year, or use the funds to relocate to the area, pay for general classes and hope to get my foot into all of the studios in the area. The way it appears now, I cannot both attend and move. I can do one or the other and one is impossible without the other. I don't see this as a failure, but rather a step closer to the ultimate goal. Unless something magical happens in the next week - this is where it stands.

Please, please reach out if you have questions or concerns about the potential heavy decision I have to make here very soon.

Again, I am so thankful for what has been given and offered. Thank you.

So much to accomplish in so little time! I'm getting really excited to make the move. To take a more serious note, I'd like to provide some thoughts that a particular comic inspired today.

Barnum and Bailey closed up shop. Yikes! Does this mean circus arts are null? NO! This does not mean the entire circus world has always diminished. One group out of thousands is out.

I've heard, on more than one occasion, that my dream is irrelevant due to this closure.

( Fun fact: My goal was not to join Barnum and Bailey. It was an incredible show, yes, but it also had practices I don't agree with. )

When I say I want to run away to the circus, it means I want to be part of something bigger than me. I want to become a part of a community that inspires kids to go farther than what they can imagine imagining. Aerial acrobatics is awe inspiring. It defies gravity.

The art form that I am training is exactly that. An art form. A performance art. It is ballet, gymnastics, dance, and acrobatics all rolled into one thing.

This program will teach me how to define my voice as a dancer, a performer. It will give me the tools to land jobs or teaching positions to share the art form with thousands.

I don't want to just "run away" blind. I want to dive into a passion and art form that allows me to express and share my thoughts in a way bigger than myself.

I hope that you can find trust in supporting this goal of mine. It isn't for everyone, you might not understand it completely, but this art form is very relevant. This art form changes lives.
