Help Ryan Battle Cancer

Donation protected
Ryan Hippler had just finished midterms for his third year of medical school when doctors diagnosed him with stage 3C cancer in his abdomen.

He underwent surgery to remove the smaller of the two tumors and started intense chemotherapy treatments immediately. With the pain, exhaustion, and the sheer amount of time spent in cancer centers, he had to unenroll from medical school. Ryan lost his school-provided health insurance, and he stopped receiving the student loans that were also paying for his rent.

Armed with new but more expensive healthcare, Ryan completed 27 rounds of chemo, but his pre-op scans showed the tumor was still too big to remove. Now, he faces even more intensive treatments that will leave him susceptible to secondary infections. He will be hospitalized for five days of treatments every three weeks until he completes 20 rounds. Then the doctors will see if the tumor shrunk enough to surgically remove it and all of the lymph nodes in his abdomen.

In the meantime, he cannot work. Because he cannot drive himself to treatments, his partner Corina has used all of her paid time off at her full-time job, and she couldn’t keep her second job. Ryan is applying to defer his student loan payments as well, but at the moment, he will have to start making payments on his loans before he can consider re-enrolling in medical school in October.

The money raised in this campaign will go to medical bills, prescriptions, and insurance premiums first. Any additional money will then go to transportation costs, rent, and student loans (if deferment is denied).

Thank you for your well-wishes and your generosity.
