Help Roger Williams Live with ALS

Donation protected
In August 2018 our son-in-law Roger Williams was diagnosed with ALS.  Before the end of the year we moved to Greensboro to help him, our daughter Kate Silton, and our granddaughters, ages four and six.   We’ve seen the disease progress as the months have gone by and watched their family finances stretched and their savings eroded.

Since the diagnosis Kate and Roger have refinanced their house in order to make the changes necessary to meet Roger’s needs. A group of their hard-working and generous friends have built and paid for a ramp.   Recently Roger received his power wheelchair.  While the wheelchair gives Roger some renewed freedom, that freedom is very limited until they can purchase a handicapped equipped minivan, which is why they need your help.

The minivan will be Roger’s lifeline to the outside world, enabling him to go to medical appointments, participate in the girls’ school and other activities, and visit friends and family.   We’re not looking to buy a new minivan or one with a host of bells and whistles.  Nonetheless, a used van with the appropriate modifications is going to run upwards of $40,000, which is why we are making this appeal.

ALS is a devastating disease in every way, including financially, and the bills are going to continue to mount even after the van is in their driveway.  The disease is both a medical and financial battle.  We hope you will join us in trying to make Roger’s life and time with his family as good as it can be.

You can contribute with a credit card on GoFundMe, or contact us through the link below to donate via a bank-to-bank transfer using PayPal, or write an old school paper check payable to Katherine Silton, which can be mailed c/o Andrew M Silton, 2 Magnolia Ct, Greensboro, NC 27401.   On behalf Roger, Kate and the girls, we deeply appreciate your help.

We hope to raise $30,000 as soon as possible.
