Help Richie Salazar Get The Medical Aid He Needs

Donation protected
On March 26th, 2019, Richie Salazar was sleeping quietly on a couch at his own home in his own yard. The next thing he knew, he was being yelled out and shouted out by the Corpus Christi Police Department. Understandably confused and scared, he threw his hands up and was then shot at multiple times and sustained 4 bullet wounds.

He was airlifted to Christus Spohn Shoreline Medical Center's ICU to preform emergency surgery. He was left with serious injuries. He was shot once through the upper arm and one bullet grazed his neck. Worse though are the bullets that hit his spine and his colon. He had to have reconstructive surgery on his colon. The bullet that is STILL in his spine could paralyze him. The doctors are hesitant to remove it because of its sensitive placement.

The police were searching for a 2 hispanic males, one with a white shirt, that had robbed a convenience store a few blocks away. Upon seeing Richie, who they claimed matched the description based on his skin color and a white shirt, they acted recklessly and shot at Richie. The police has already stated that Richie was innocent and without fault. They posted a video on their facebook  explaining what happened on their side, in which they admitted near no fault and nearly blamed Richie for not complying with police. The video can be found here and a news article that goes more in depth can be found here.

Thankfully, Richie is now out of ICU but is still on an intensive healing regimen that consists of numerous drugs and prescriptions to help with his pain and his healing. As his necessary stay in the hospital goes on, his bills are piling up. Even with a lawsuit coming, that will not be solved any time soon and will not help him now.

We, as his family, are asking for anything you could give to help cover some of his medical bills. Even when he is discharged from the hospital, he will have to endure rigorous physical therapy to help him walk and adjust after this tragic and avoidable incident. Any and all donations will be used to help with current and future hospital bills and ease-of-life payments he may accrue.
