Help restore Wanamie 9 (DL&W 28)

Tax deductible
The DL&W railroad’s Most Modern Surviving steam locomotive. The back bone of the mining industry. Today we once again rekindle it’s flames to make the last of the “mile for mile the most modern railroad in the world” in its most important locomotive, it may not be the Rushing Poconos and Hudson’s but without it they would never be able to sustain. The DL&WRR Coal Mining Department 24 #wanamie9

This fund is for the Finaling purchase and
beginning of boiler work on the Wanamie 9.
Over 2 years The Wanamie Project was worked in research to find the last survivors of the mine to bring one of the locomotives “lokies” back to PA for operation at the Huber Breaker Historical Park run by the Huber Breaker Preservation Society by Matt Stegura.

Starting this year the locomotive number 9 was put on a hold for the society and now we are working to fully acquire and start work on the Engine itself With This and paper work secured from the Railroad Museum of PA  we can work to restore her accurately. Currently we have started to restore components on hand such as the steam guage. but we do not have all of the missing parts so I will eventually put up a list of missing parts that can be acquired still.

From this point on it is to make that guage show 180 PSI in the boiler once again at the Ashely Huber Breaker site.

All Photos were used with permission of owners. The Blue Prints and Gauge were taken by me as of this up date.

Update 1: Models are in the works to help fund the locomotive restoration. A Vulcan Water Sight Glass was donated. FRA and CFR rules have been checked through and currently the society and the soon to be “Huber Railway” check through for operations once track is laid and equipment is placed.
A Fund for the Rest of the blue prints to be scanned will start after this fund. This will also include shipping and pole barn cost and updates.

Update 2: Youngstown Steel Heritage Has agreed to allow storage of the locomotive on property for the duration of its restoration allowing for a easy to work from shop thanks to the restoration of J&L 58 “rolling Ingot”
A 15,000 dollar grant will be arriving from the State of PA, the cost in total currently is 24,000 dollars.
