Help Raquel Battle Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Let me tell you a little about my best friend Raquel:
• She has the best sense of humor with a ridiculously contagious laugh to match.
• She is obsessed with horror movies and true crime shows.
• She always has the cutest clothes!
• She has an amazing partner Anthony who supports her unconditionally. And she is a fur mom to an awesome basset hound, Bentley, also known as Nurse Bentley.
• She is active and loves to be outdoors, hiking, at the beach, or running a 5k
• She loves all things witchy.
• She is there for her friends, no matter the circumstances. She will even text you back to check on you at 3am when you've woken up with an anxiety attack.
• She is a virgo and turned 33 this year.
• She is battling cancer.

While on a family vacation in February Raquel discovered a lump in her breast.  By March 1st, after an ultrasound and biopsy confirmed our worst fears, she was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Stage 2 with a Grade 3 tumor.

A very aggressive type of cancer, Triple Negative Breast Cancer  doesn’t typically respond to the standard therapies. It is rarer and requires different types of treatments because they are estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative and HER2-negative. Raquel’s tumor is a high grade tumor -- which means it’s growing aggressively.

Following her doctors' suggestions, Raquel jumped immediately into action and has already started treatment.

Her treatment plan starts with 4-5 months of chemotherapy right away and then surgery.  There is a possibility of more chemotherapy and radiation after the surgery and possibly reconstruction surgery.

Raquel is a hairstylist and due to the nature of the treatments she will be unable to work for at least 6 months -- possibly longer.  One can imagine what a hardship that will be financially for her and her partner, Anthony, on top of the mounting medical bills.

Raquel lives in Portland with Anthony and Bentley.  Her mom and step-dad recently moved to Texas and the rest of her family and many of her friends live out of state.  Thankfully they have a local support system with Anthony's family and Portland friends but we wish we were closer and could be there to help more.

All donations will go toward medical expenses, prescriptions, transportation, surgery, reconstruction, and any other costs that will come up along the way.  Whatever you can give, any amount at all, can make a difference. We will be very grateful.
