The Children of Kunda Village

In November of 2018, I visited the town of Gisenyi, Western Rwanda and stayed with Emmanuel Dylan, who runs a local NGO; Kunda Village Ministry.
The NGO is focused on a nearby village where there are over 200 children, most of which are orphans. After the government began closing the orphanages in 2012, the orphans were sent to distant relatives who usually were already struggling to feed their own family.
Emmanuel was once an orphan in this village, as he was born during the genocide where his parents were victims.
Growing up in the village inspired him to look after the children who live there, not only financially but as a friend and mentor also.
Kunda Village is always happy to receive donations as it is funded entirely by the generosity of others because they receive no government funding. In this case, we are raising money to buy a house and renovate the building into a school.
At the moment the children must have their lessons in a small, overcrowded room. It is vital for these children to have a safe and secure environment for them to develop their minds.
The funds are needed as soon as possible, as it is imperative that these children receive a place to be educated. This will be a massive achievement for Kunda Village as it demonstrates to these beautiful children that they have a chance of succeeding in their dreams!
